As reported in the Journal Herald last week, Feb 18, 2016, The Avoca Utility and Betterment board will receive a $385,000 CITIES grant through the Iowa West Foundation to help extend the sewer and water mains and streets for the Nishna Ridge Project south of the golf course in the northeast part of town.
This will provide some nice lots for building in Avoca. As part of “2008 Comprehensive Plan”, the city set a goal to attain a population of 2500 within 25 years. In order to reach this goal the City has a need for 320 new owner-occupied units. It is an ambitious goal and the city has grant programs in place to help fulfill the goal.
Let us know if you would like to build in Avoca and we can research for you the current grant offerings and locations available.
